Zachary Wells and Tanner Platz Killed in Head-On Tractor-Trailer Collision at Black Oak

The Arkansas State Police have released a preliminary report of a head-on collision in Craighead County involving a semi and a GMC pick-up truck, occurring on July 23, 2015 at 2:49 a.m. at the point where Highway 18 intersects with Highway 135 near Black Oak.

The report indicates that the tractor trailer, driven by Chad T. Marshall, age 44, of Jonesboro, was traveling westbound on Highway 18 and crossed over into the eastbound lane where it struck  Zachary D. Wells, age 20, driving the 2006 GMC, and his passenger, Tanner A. R. Platz, both of Monette. Both young men are reported to have died at the scene. Chad Marshall is listed as injured.

The report further indicates that it was raining and the road was wet at the time of the collision.
