HARVEY JOE BAILEY KILLED IN LOGGING TRUCK CRASH

The Arkansas State Police have released a Fatal Crash Summary reporting that Harvey Joe Bailey, age 85, from Percy, was killed July 27, 2017, when an unloaded log truck skidded across the highway and hit Mr. Bailey’s 2008 Chevy pickup on U.S. 70 near the Garland County-Hot Spring County line.

The report indicates that the 1996 Freightliner logging truck was headed east on the highway when a vehicle ahead of it slowed and it “abruptly braked.” The truck then reportedly crossed into the westbound lane colliding with the front driver’s side of the pickup.

The driver of the log truck is identified as Chris Avington, age 57, of Arkadelphia, who the report lists as “injured.”
